September 2026

Fees stay on returning checkouts

If a customer reached checkout, went back to your store (or had it open in another tab), and then returned, the fee could drop off their order. The fee now stays in the cart and on that checkout, on every theme.

Add the charge as soon as it applies

A new Behavior setting adds the fee to the cart as soon as the cart qualifies, instead of when the customer clicks Check out. Useful for required charges on checkouts customers reach without that button, such as a saved checkout link. Optional charges are still only added after the customer turns the toggle on.

Required & Default-On Fees

Fee line corrects itself in the cart

If the fee line's quantity is changed or it's duplicated, TackOn puts it back to a single line at the right amount, and removes it when the cart has no other products.

No second widget when changing quantities

On some themes and cart apps, changing an item's quantity could show the fee widget twice. It now appears once.

August 2026

Weight-based fee tiers

Band a fee by cart or item weight as well as by price, for example a higher handling fee on heavy orders. A {{weight}} placeholder shows customers the weight the fee was based on, and TackOn warns you about products with no weight set.

Fee opt-in at checkout (Shopify Plus)

Stores on Shopify Plus can show the fee opt-in on the checkout page itself, styled to match the cart widget and configured from TackOn's settings.

Switch plans and redeem discount codes

Move back to the free plan from the Billing page, with the paid plan prorated, and redeem a TackOn discount code there too.

Pricing overview

Theme changes keep the widget in place

When you edit or publish a theme, TackOn re-syncs where the widget sits in your cart automatically, and setup now detects the app embed more reliably.

Clearer setup warnings

Settings now warn when the customer toggle is turned off, and the checkout editor explains why the checkout widget is hidden on stores that can't use it.

Test and trial orders don't count toward billing

Orders placed with a test gateway or during your free trial are no longer counted as billable usage.

July 2026

Price-tier gaps flagged, combined fees per tier

The rules editor warns when your price tiers leave a gap where no fee would apply, and each tier can now use a combined percentage-plus-fixed fee.

Smarter charge-rule health checks

The dashboard now clearly flags when no charge rule is active, and correctly recognizes scheduled and seasonal rules instead of mistaking them for broken ones.

Fee product is now non-shippable

The behind-the-scenes fee product is created as non-shippable, so it never interferes with your shipping rates or calculations.

Product-only stores charge correctly

Stores that use only product-specific rules (no catalog-wide default) now apply fees reliably at checkout.

Consistent rule state in the widget

The cart widget now honors each rule's active state consistently for both the fee amount and whether the widget is shown.

June 2026

Date scheduling for fees

Run a fee only when you want it: a one-time date range, a recurring yearly window, specific months, or specific days of the week. Ideal for seasonal, holiday, or weekend surcharges. When a schedule is off, the widget hides itself and no fee is added.

UpCart cart drawer support

The TackOn widget now renders inside the UpCart cart drawer, so stores using UpCart can offer fees in their slide-out cart.

More reliable checkout detection

Improved checkout-target resolution so the fee and 'proceed to checkout' flow behave consistently across themes.

Shopify Admin API 2026-04

Upgraded to the latest Shopify Admin API version for ongoing compatibility and reliability.

May 2026

Analytics dashboard

See fee orders, fee revenue, and average order value at a glance, plus a widget funnel showing how often the widget is shown and how often customers accept the fee, over 7, 30, 90, or 365 days.

Shadow DOM theme support

The widget now works on themes that render the cart inside a shadow DOM, expanding compatibility across more Online Store 2.0 themes.

Custom cart selectors

Point the widget at custom cart, subtotal, and checkout selectors. TackOn automatically restores your theme when you disable them.

No more duplicate widgets

Rendering now tracks claimed cart locations so the widget never appears twice on complex cart layouts.

Clearer onboarding

A refreshed setup guide, welcome banner, and setup warnings make first-time configuration faster and easier to follow.

April 2026

Polished opt-in checkbox

Cleaner checkbox styling with improved focus states for better accessibility.
