Date Scheduling
Restrict a fee rule so it only applies during specific dates, months, or days of the week.
Overview
By default a fee rule is always active. Date scheduling lets you turn a rule on automatically during a season, promotion, or any recurring window, without having to manually enable and disable it.
The widget hides itself automatically when no rule has an active schedule, so customers never see a $0 or broken fee UI.
Enabling a Schedule
- Go to Settings → Rules
- Open an existing rule or create a new one
- Tick Restrict to specific dates
- Pick a Schedule type and fill in the fields
- Click Save
Schedule Types
Date range (one-time)
The rule applies between two specific calendar dates.
Example: Black Friday sale (November 28 to December 2)
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Start date | 2024-11-28 |
| End date | 2024-12-02 |
Recurring yearly range (e.g. every Dec – Jan)
The rule applies during the same window every year. Supports ranges that cross the year boundary (e.g. December through January).
Example: Holiday season (December 1 to January 5 every year)
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Start month | December |
| Start day | 1 |
| End month | January |
| End day | 5 |
The range wraps the year end automatically. You don't need to create two separate rules.
Specific months
The rule applies during selected months only.
Example: Summer surcharge (June, July, August)
Check the months that should be active. The rule is off during all other months.
Days of the week
The rule applies on selected weekdays only.
Example: Weekend handling fee (Saturday and Sunday)
Check the days that should be active. The rule is off on all other days.
What Happens When a Schedule Is Inactive
- The widget hides completely, so customers see no fee UI
- No fee is added at checkout
- The rule stays saved; it becomes active again automatically when the schedule window returns
Tips
- No schedule = always active. Unticking Restrict to specific dates removes the restriction entirely.
- Combine with product rules. You can schedule a rule that also targets specific products. Both conditions must be met.
- Time zone note. Schedule checks use the customer's browser time. For most use cases this is fine, but if your store caters to a single timezone (e.g. a local business), be aware that customers in other regions may see the rule slightly earlier or later than intended.
- Test your schedule. After saving, verify the widget appears and disappears at the correct times with a test cart.
